Distractions

Yesterday was a troubling anniversary.  It was my mother's birthday and my father's  "death day".  So I spent  a lot of time distracting myself with work on "Seussical"...

This will be Mayzie's chaise lounge for the Palm Beach scene ( built by Mike Collier).  I was asked to paint it "Seussian".  So we started off with a coat of yellow...

Then today I added some stripes....

It's still not done but we're almost there...

I'll finish it up tomorrow.  They've decided to use this puppet created by Karen Muldrew from the costumes department to add to the back of the chair...

She made them for her puppet shows and has offered up some of her others as well....

This is Marylen Haines our director holding up the ostrich....

... And Kath Hillery (from props) holding one of the fish for Mcgillicutty's pool.  The puppets will be a great addition I'm sure!   As for the circus train I've been working on, progress continues, slowly...

They're face down and drying.  Tomorrow they'll look better when we move forward with paint.
We're getting to that last few weeks of crunch time on the play so the pressure's on!

Sorry for your Mother's sad Anniversary. I can't imagine. My children's high school did this musical the first year it was written and they sent a production team to lend props and such from the original play! It was an incredible show. How fun for you!
