Making Plans in The Sand

by Helen Moore
Sand in my swimsuit,
Sand in my hair.
When I go to the beach,
sand gets everywhere!
I wonder, I wonder
Oh how can there be,
Sand left at the beach
When there's so much on me?

Ah, yes something to look forward to! This week I submitted our team's entry into the U.S Open Sandcastle Competition. Our team's name is "The Sand Witches" and we're going to create a sculpture called "Menace from The Deep". It's a creature emerging from the depths of the ocean... Sort of a statement on the Gulf Spill. We have a team of ten and we're entering in the masters category. We're starting to get excited for it!

Our webcomic, The People That Melt in The Rain has been nominated for "Best Fantasy Comic" on the SmackJeeves website. For any of you who miss voting for us you can go here! This time it's a one time vote, so you just join the site and vote.... no daily pestering! This week I also created this video montage for "The People That Melt in The Rain". Like the one for "The Horribles" it will be included in WOWIO's live video stream of the San Diego Comic Con...

Yesterday we had another sizable earthquake. Since the big one at Easter these are becoming more frequent. Today I heard a 6 year old at Naomi and Phoebe's school explaining the significance of the 5.4 quake we had yesterday. Everyone here's an expert these days.

"People are willing to take these extraordinary chances to become writers, musicians, or painters, and because of them, we have a culture. If this ever stops, our culture will die, because most of our culture, in fact, has been created by people that got paid nothing for it--people like Edgar Allan Poe, Vincent Van Gogh or Mozart."-Kurt Vonnegut
