I´ve been putting my photos up on flickr.com for a few months now. Mainly for convenience, but also for family to see, when I was contacted by the editor of Schmap! San Diego Guide. They wanted to use a photo I took of Petco stadium, from when we went to watch The Padres lose again last summer.
Now this picture is in their guide!
Anyway I've discovered some strange laws on the books here in California, some of which are truly hilarious...
-Sunshine is guaranteed to the masses.
-Animals are banned from mating publicly within 1,500 feet of a tavern, school, or place of worship.
-It is illegal to shoot jackrabbits from the back of a streetcar. (I haven't seen any, but I'll have to restrain myself, I guess)
-It's against the law to use your used underwear as a dustrag.
-It is a misdemeanor to shoot at any kind of game from a moving vehicle, unless the target is a whale.( Well at least we can shoot something!)
-In California you may not set a mouse trap without a hunting license.
-Women may not drive in a house coat. (I don't have a house coat, actually I'm not even sure of what one looks like)
-No vehicle without a driver may exceed 60 miles per hour.
-Hollywood: It is illegal to drive more than two thousand sheep down Hollywood Boulevard at one time.
-In San Francisco- It is illegal to pile horse manure more than six feet high on a street corner (I guess the sky's the limit here in San Diego)
-Molesting butterflies can result in a $500 fine.
-A city ordinance states that a $500 fine will be given to anyone who detonates a nuclear device within city limits.
I love that those last 2 have the same penalty! Well, we'll have to be on our toes. :)
"People are willing to take these extraordinary chances to become writers, musicians, or painters, and because of them, we have a culture. If this ever stops, our culture will die, because most of our culture, in fact, has been created by people that got paid nothing for it--people like Edgar Allan Poe, Vincent Van Gogh or Mozart."-Kurt Vonnegut
